Board Certified Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon

Dr. Mario Lucca is a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon who has been practicing dentistry in Massachusetts since 2002. He has extensive training in advanced surgical procedures with special emphasis in office-based anesthesia, minimally invasive wisdom tooth management, dental implants, and regenerative bone grafting procedures.

Education & Residency

Dr. Lucca received his D.M.D. from the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 2002. After completing a post-graduate internship in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in 2003, he was appointed a clinical faculty position at Tufts University. He provided private practice general dentistry in the greater Boston area for 3 years prior beginning a traditional 48 month Oral and Maxillofacial Surgical residency in 2006.

Dr. Lucca received his certificate in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 2010. His general surgery and anesthesia training was completed locally with rotations at Tufts Medical Center, Winchester Hospital and Lemuel Shattuck Hospital. He received the Dr. Kenneth M. Stern Endowed Scholarship Award for clinical excellence and high ethical standards in 2010.

Dr. Lucca has made multiple literary contributions with publications in the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the Journal of the Massachusetts Dental Society. In addition he’s been an honored lecturer at multiple professional seminars and meetings.

Professional Associations & Awards

Dr. Lucca is a fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons the Massachusetts Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Dental Society of Anesthesia, and has been nominated by his peers to Boston Magazine’s Top Dentists honors multiple times. Dr. Lucca achieved Diplomate status with the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons in 2012.

Dr. Lucca has held clinical and staff appointments at the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery as well as area hospitals including Tufts Medical Center, North Shore Medical Center, Union Hospital, Melrose-Wakefield Hospital, and Franciscan Boston Children's Hospital.
